His Story
Noble Family
Shashala is from an ancient family dating back to the times of Mhach, though the rest of his family is unaware of this fact. Though the family has latent magical talent, in the wake of the 6th Umbral Calamity, they did choose to focus on a more honest trade. After centuries pass the family has amassed great wealth and status, and is now one of the Noble Families of Ul'dah. Sadly, the family, especially in recent years, has fallen pray i corruption and greed. The main branch of the family currently is comprised of four members, Fafala Dodola, Titila Tila, Shashala Mimila and his little brother Rayrayla Sosola.
Apprenticeship and Betrayal
As a member of this esteemed family, Shashala was expected to follow certain rules. Freedom was limited, but personal goals were encouraged provided it was for the benefit of the entire family. While Shashala was skilled in his family trade, he found more fulfillment in studying history and magic. In fact, his talents with magic were best described as extraordinary.. For their own purposes, Shashala's parents encouraged this talent and did seek out a preeminent sorcerer with which to apprentice Shashala, and found one. For the next 7 years did Shashala learn at the feet of this great master, until one day the two embarked upon a research trip. No one knows what befell the little lalafell, but he returned to the city alone three days later. By his words did he describe a terrible beast that had caught them on the road unawares and did slay his master. While Shashala did manage to slay the beast, the event clearly haunted him. For the next year did Shashala's family note a drastic change in Shashala. He was kinder, more compassionate, and most certainly less prone to boasting. He also chaffed against his families blatant corruption. Things came to a head when his parents attempted to physically confine him whilst they sent an assassin to do away with a dear friend. Thus did Shashala escape the family mansion and rescue his friend, and thence fled the city.
Running away and Library
Shortly after leaving the city Shashala used his personal funds to construct a library populated by his own vast collection of tomes, discreetly smuggled from the family premises. Armed with knowledge and skills in magic long thought lost, he traveled the land and witnessed events leading up to and predating the 7th Astral Era. What adventures await him now?
His Skills
Echo
Like many in this day and age, Shashala has been blessed with the Echo, an ability which allows those who possess it to transcend the boundaries of the soul. Every manifestation of the Echo is different, with Shashala's being no exception. His primary Echo ability allows him to understand and communicate with all manner of aetheric entities. It is also for this reason that Shashala has preternatural senses for aether, to the point that he can almost see it. His secondary ability is the ability to witness the past of other people or objects, though his is largely limited to things he can touch.
Magic
Owing, in large part, to his superfluous ability to sense and manipulate aether, it is of little surprise that he has a vast aether pool from which to draw his mystical might. Indeed, his capacity for magic is extraordinary enough to draw the eyes of many. Though how is unclear, Shashala is privy to many lost magicks from ages past, including Summoning, Fae Magicks, Golem Creation, Voidsent summoning, and supplemental Red Magic.
In addition to this, Shashala is well versed in much magical knowledge that has been lost to time, at least until recently. The crux of his arcane knowledge however, is on the very aetheric entities mentioned previously. This includes Primals, Carbuncles, Egis, Elementals, Fairies, Pixies, the Lucavi, and Auspices.
Historian
History has always been one of Shashala's biggest hobbies, and he has bent his considerable energies towards collecting and studying the history of his world. He focuses much on the era of the Allagan empire, but he is well versed in much world history, or as much of it has been recorded. This gives him much insight into world wide affairs, even if he has not witnessed it. His traveling also affords him many opportunities to see and hear about the many strange events that consume our world.
His Adventures
Primal Battles
Among the many things that plague the world, few concern Shashala so much as the primals; those god-like beings who rise up from the manipulations of the Paragons. Through a sophisticated network of golems he has created, does Shashala survey the many beast tribes across the land so that he might arrive to assist in striking down the many Eikons who slumber across the realm.
Expeditions to The Crystal Tower
When the call went out among adventurers and scholars both that the Crystal Tower was in need of exploration, Shashala was among the first to answer the call. He did not, however, enter the World of Darkness for his own reasons.
Expeditions to Mhachi Ruins
The subsequent discovery of the Void Ark, and Mhach and Dun Scathe thereafter, drew Shashala like a moth to flame, largy due to his family history with the place, and his explicable hatred for Voidsent.
Expeditions to Ivalice
Among the many legends that exist across the world, few are as inspiring as the Zodiac Braves, vaunted heroes of the sacred land of Ivalice. When the call went out that expeditions to the ancient ruins and places connected to these mythical places were to take place, Shashala jumped at the chance to take part. His expertise on the so called Lucavi were highly valued during these forays.
Travels to the First
Recently Shashala was subject to Pixie mischief in his Library, the results of which led to his unexpected travels to another world beyond the Source. This world had its own histories and troubles, of which Shashala found himself embroiled in to some extent. Unusually, Shashala has proves exceedingly knowledgeable about some aspects of the place, some might even say strongly so.....

A somewhat mysterious old friend of Shashla's from the old days back in Ul'dah. Though they lived worlds apart, Dyrian on the streets, Shashala in high society, they somehow grew close despite their differences. Dyrian travels the world as a mercenary of sorts. Like a bolt out of the blue he enters, and just as swiftly exits.
Uikeri Ackerman
Another strange young lady who has come to Shashala for aid in various things. She too wishes to learn of Magic from Shashala, though she harbors many secrets of her own. Through Shashala's guidance he hopes that he can help her realize her true power and overcome her many challanges.
Talan Jeanne
The Lord of a powerful Ul'dahn family that Shashala met one night. Though the two have similar upbringings, they initially clashed with each other, but have since grown closer. Shashala feels he owes a great debt to this powerful Hyur, and is determined to repay it however he can.
Glacie Esmerelda La Vondane
An acquaintance of Runaro, she came to Shashala with the hope that he might help mend her fractured mind. Though the two have grown somewhat closer, her unstable state often puts him on edge. She searches his library for secrets of the Black Magicks of Mhach. Shashala hopes that one day she will return to her true self.
Ellis Luminelle
The daughter of a renowned Ishgardian House, she brings joy in the form of books and Tea. Her insatiable curiosity drew her to his library, and she has made many subsequent visits. Though he enjoys her company, he cannot help but notice that she draws ever closer to his past. . . .

Lilerf Hoch
Another Dunesfolk Lalafell with a strange story to tell. Like many, she came to Shashala's library in search of knowledge, and in some cases sweets. She loves to fiddle with enchantments with which to make items to help better the world. But her beautiful face hides a dark secret, a secret tainted with the scent of voidsent.
